An offer to help some of the shoppers hit by the demise of McEwens of Perth was snapped up in less than an hour.
Shortly after it was announced the long-established firm was to enter administration, it emerged that those holding vouchers were having them declined and were being advised to contact KPMG.
As a “goodwill gesture”, local firm Miconex put up £1,000 to replace gift vouchers for the stricken store, replacing them with the same value on a Perth Card that can be spent in more than 50 businesses across the city.
Company director Colin Munro said: “It’s a goodwill gesture to support people who haven’t been able to use their gift vouchers due to the circumstances with McEwen’s.
“It also helps raise awareness of the Perth Card, which promotes and supports local businesses.”
