Bad weather leaves over 1000 homes in Perthshire without power
ByPaul Reoch
The inclement weather hit Highland Perthshire with a vengeance with more than 1000 homes not having any power for almost four hours and some resultant rail disruption.
An overhead power failure in the Pitlochry area affected a total of 1024 homes between 10.05am and 1.55pm.
A spokesperson for Scottish and Southern Energy said this power failure “would appear” to have also led to problems on the rail line at Pilochry.
Rail travellers experienced “significant delays” between Perth and Inverness as a result.
A spokesperson for Network Rail said the electricity failure led to signalling problems, which began at 10.30am.
He added that the situation was rectified around 5pm.
