Crieff’s MacRosty Park has been recognised as one of the best in the country.
A green flag was raised over the refurbished park on Wednesday as a sign to visitors that it is well maintained and managed.
Green Flag Plus Partnership chairman Phil Barton said, “The green flag award scheme and its growth is essential in driving up the standards of our parks and green spaces.
“Access to quality green space is something we all desire, and the scheme plays a key role in providing it.
“In these challenging times it is heartening that the number of green flag awards continue to grow. As the value of green space and the role it plays in our communities strengthens, we must ensure these high standards remain.”
A £1.8 million rejuvenation of MacRosty Park was completed earlier this year, including the installation of play equipment and a water play area, the restoration of the Edwardian bandstand, the provision of public toilets and the extension of the park pavilion into a multi-purpose building.
Perth and Kinross Council’s environment convener, Alan Grant, said, “The council is continually working to maintain all the parks and open spaces it cares for to green flag standards, as we recognise the benefits of well-managed, high-quality green spaces in our communities.
“The major project to revitalise MacRosty Park has come to fruition this year, resulting in a greatly enhanced experience for residents and visitors alike.”
