The 2011 season has been Perth Racecourse’s most successful ever and looks like making it Scotland’s number one.
New figures have shown the Scone Palace venue has enjoyed a record breaking season, with an increase of 12% on last year’s attendance figures.
Over 63,000 visitors have been welcomed through its gates, giving an average crowd of just over 4,500 per race day figures that are expected to be the highest in Scotland this year.
The highlight of the season was The Courier-sponsored Charities Race Day, attended by the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay.
It attracted around 15,000 spectators to the course and boasted the biggest prize fund Perth has ever offered.
Scotland’s most northerly racecourse has also bucked the trend on corporate hospitality despite the difficult climate Perth Racecourse has successfully augmented its corporate hospitality covers.
Racecourse general manager Sam Morshead said: “We are delighted with the success of the 2011 season and are thrilled to have encountered such an impressive increase in our attendance figures.”
