Commuters travelling through Perth Railway Station could have been forgiven for thinking that they had got off at the wrong stop on Tuesday.
Oscar winners Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman were in town as part of the Victorian station was transformed into Edinburgh Waverley for a new film.
The faded grandeur of the station was injected with Hollywood glamour as the stars spent much of the day filming flashback scenes from The Railway Man, based on the autobiographical book by Eric Lomax.
Many travellers were oblivious to the activity going on around them until they reached the platforms.
There, they were transported back to the 1950s, with scores of extras dressed in vintage clothing and a Class 37 diesel awaiting its next cue.
The locomotive proved to be more of a draw than Firth and Kidman for one man, who secured a prime position on a bridge and spent much of the morning capturing its movements on film.
“When I heard they were filming at the station, I came along to have a wee nosey,” he said.
Filming was able to remain under the radar thanks to the co-operation of First ScotRail and Perth and Kinross Council, who had been sworn to secrecy by producers.
