Moves have been made to crack down on parking at the Dewars Centre in Perth.
Scores of workers use the free parking at the car parks but leisure bosses have decided to call time on this following parking problems for people using the facilities there and complaints from some leisure users.
On Monday, motorists were met by staff from Live Active Leisure armed with clipboards who asked them the purpose of their visit.
A spokesman for Live Active Leisure said: ”The car park at Dewars Centre and Perth Leisure Pool is provided for the safe use and convenience of customers visiting both sites.
”Our customers have been facing increasing difficulties with parking due to commuter parking on the site. We are therefore diverting people who are not visiting these facilities to the park-and-ride facility available at Broxden or other general public car parks within the city.
”This action has been taken in recognition of the approaching busy summer period at Perth Leisure Pool, the comments from our customers and in line with the existing signage in our car park.
”We will assess the level of improvement this action has for our customers’ experience and will consider a number of further options if necessary.”
The cost of parking in Perth varies on how close the spaces are to the city centre.
Some Perth streets have a maximum stay of either one hour, two hours, three hours or four hours for on-street parking.
Many people who work in Perth use the South Inch car park, which charges £3.50 for 10 hours. A monthly permit costs £60.
