The Queen will continue a royal tradition on Friday at the crowning place of Scotland’s kings when she visits Scone Palace.
The monarch will travel to the palace for lunch on the same day she will be presented with the keys to the city of Perth.
Her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, will be given the freedom of the city, as part of a diamond jubilee tour which has included visits to Edinburgh and Glasgow this week.
The royal party will arrive at Scone Palace at noon for a private lunch and reception. Afterwards, the Queen will plant a tree in the palace grounds.
Entertainment will be provided by the Royal Regiment of Scotland Military Band, who will play within the grounds from 11.30am until the arrival of the royal party.
The royal procession will enter the palace grounds via the main gate and will drive to the front of the palace, where they will be welcomed by members of the Mansfield family, who run Scone Palace.
There will be a tight security operation surrounding the visit, with more than 100 officers, including some from the Metropolitan Police, on duty in Perth. Security checks have been carried out on Tay Street in recent days.
The royal party is expected in Tay Street at 10.15am, with entertainment from 9am.
The Scone Palace grounds will be open to the public as normal, with hundreds of well-wishers expected to greet the royal party.
Parking will be available by the Queen’s Bridge. A pop-up jubilee shop and catering, including a hog roast and home baking, will be available on Moot Hill.
