Perth teenager sentenced to detention for dealing cocaine
ByNews reporter
A teenage cocaine dealer has been detained for a total of 15 months after appearing at Perth Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Sheriff Michael Fletcher rejected Stuart Alexander Banks’ pleas to be placed on the Right Track structured deferral scheme for young offenders.
The 19-year-old admitted being concerned in the supply of the class A drug at his home in Perth’s Tulloch Place on December 20 last year.
The court heard quantities of the drug, with a street value of £560, were recovered from the property.
Solicitor David Holmes said his client had lived a ”disadvantaged life” to date and deserved a chance to work through his problems on the Right Track programme.
However the sheriff said custody was his only option due to the seriousness of supplying class A drugs.
Banks’s not guilty plea to a charge alleging he failed to appear at a court hearing on July 28 was accepted by the crown.
