‘A wonderful son, brother and uncle’ family pay tribute to Perth fall man Darren Klatschak

The family of a man who died in a tragic accident at the weekend have paid tribute to a ”wonderful son, brother and uncle.”

Darren Klatschak (34), of Woodhead of Mailer near Perth, died after falling from the top of the Potterhill Flats in Perth’s Bridgend in the early hours of Sunday.

His mother Lynn Rodgers and step-father Hugh spoke of their loss and how Darren had been in good spirits on the night of the accident.

”With a friend he was trying to climb on to the roof from the top walkway to see the view an act of bravado that cost him his life,” said Mrs Rodgers. ”He was extremely happy and was out celebrating that he was starting a new construction job in Perth on Monday.

”He enjoyed life to the full and was a wonderful son, brother and uncle. He loved his nieces and baby-sat for them regularly.”

The fall was only witnessed by his friend and Darren was unconscious when paramedics arrived and remained so until he died.

Mr Rodgers said that they had been overwhelmed by the response of family and friends.

”Hundreds of tributes have been paid to him on Facebook saying they will miss the banter, jokiness and sense of humour,” he said. ”He was a very good friend to all that knew him.”

Darren’s mother, step-father, sister, aunt and uncle were at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for hours before he passed away shortly after 6.25am on Sunday.

Darren’s funeral will take place next Friday at North Church, Perth, at 12.45pm and thereafter to Murie Cemetery, Errol, at 2pm.

Mr and Mrs Rodgers were keen to clarify that Darren, who lived with them in their detached home, was a grounds worker not a farm worker. We apologise for errors in our previous coverage.
