The body of 52-year-old John MacGillivary has been recovered from a river in Highland Perthshire, police have said.
The body of Mr MacGillivary, of Old Struan, Pitlochry, was discovered in Errochty Water yesterday afternoon.
A police spokeswoman said: “Mr MacGillivary’s family are understandably upset by their sudden loss and have said that he will be greatly missed. They do not wish to make any further comments and have requested that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.
“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and inquiries into the full set of circumstances of the incident are ongoing.”
Police officers were called to assist in the search for a person reported missing from Pitlochry yesterday morning.
However, within half an hour of being called in they made the discovery in the river south of Calvine.
A spokeswoman for Tayside Fire and Rescue fire crews were called to Errochty Water, which runs for five miles between Trinafour and Struan, at around 3.20pm to help with recovering the body from the river.
A safety team had been positioned downstream and firefighters in the swift water rescue team donned lifejackets and rescue lines and an inflatable ”sled” was deployed to help with the recovery.
A report on the matter will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
