Father-of-two Jim Guild, of the village’s Abbey Road, died on Monday. It is understood he worked in the oil industry and was on his way to work at the time. Family members were gathered at his home on Friday but his wife, Susan, refused to comment. Neighbours on the street said they were shocked by the news, saying they did not know Mr Guild well but that he will be sadly missed. One said, “He was a lovely man who would always pass the time of day. “They were a really nice couple and this is a terrible thing to happen to them.” They added, “They’ve got two beautiful daughters who’ve not long finished school and I can’t believe they’re having to go through this. “They’ve not lived in the street for that long and he kept himself to himself really but they were always happy to chat.” Another said, “He and his wife were very nice whenever I saw them.” A spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said consular assistance had been offered to the family. Mr Guild is also survived by his daughters Laura and Jes.
