TV star Lorraine Kelly has given her backing to The Courier’s campaign for Frank’s Law.
The daytime presenter has previously supported the Kopel family in their bid for a fairer personal care system for under-65s.
Now she has pledged to help pressure the Scottish Government to take action to help people with illnesses such as dementia.
Lorraine said: “I’m very happy to support this campaign in Frank’s name. Amanda has been so brave and it’s admirable that she wants to help other people.”
The Dundee United fan previously donated one of her favourite dresses to help the Frank Kopel Alzheimer’s Awareness Campaign.
Lorraine has also written about the illness as a columnist for our sister paper, The Sunday Post.
She said: “I have watched Dundee United legend Frank Kopel gradually succumb to dementia and it has been heartbreaking for his devoted wife Amanda and all of his family and friends.
“No wonder dementia is known as a living death.”
Lorraine added: “Those over 65 receive free care, which is unfair for the victims and those looking after them usually husbands, wives, daughters and sons.
While the search goes on for a cure, we need to look after those who are suffering right now.”
