He was dram good fun Tayside couple share whisky jokes with the Pope

A Courier country couple discovered that the Holy Ghost is not the only spirit Pope Francis believes in, after the Pontiff asked them if they had any whisky at a special ceremony in Rome.

Daniel and Jenn Adams travelled to the Vatican this week to have their union blessed by the Holy Father.

At a special audience, the pair chatted and joked with His Holiness, who asked the couple if they had any whisky after realising they were from Scotland.

Daniel, who is from Dundee, told The Courier it was “amazing” to meet the Pontiff, who he described as “incredibly humble”.

The 28-year-old, who went to St Saviour’s High School, married Perth woman Jenn on December 30.

He added that he also received a hug from Pope Francis, despite fearing Swiss Guards were “going to take me down”.
