The excited pupils of Maisondieu Primary, Brechin, were given the opportunity to get their hands on the Scottish Cup.
The world’s oldest national football trophy was on display at the school as part of the Road to Hampden Tour, which is celebrating this year’s Active Nation Scottish Cup competition.
The interactive tour will see up to 100 children receiving specialist skills and drill training from Scottish FA coaches, as well as advice on keeping fit from ex-Scotland and Celtic star John Kennedy.
The Road to Hampden tour kicked off in Brechin before it visits schools in Dundee, Kirkcaldy, Edinburgh and returning for a festival of football at the Dundee University Institute of Sport and Exercise on Saturday.
The festival is a free day out for the whole family and will run from 11am-3pm.
The Road to Hampden tour has been designed to engage with communities, get children and families more active and “match fit” ahead of the cup final in May, and beyond.
Public Health and Sport Minister Shona Robison has backed the tour and said, “We want to encourage people to make lasting lifestyle changes which will improve their health, their family’s health and the country’s health.
“This initiative offers the perfect platform to get more people thinking about their health and making changes that will benefit them.”
While the tour works its way across the country, cupcrazy Scots can nominate a relative, friend, workplace or community centre to win the cup for a day.
Tell your amazing story and you will be in with a chance to win the cup and have it delivered to you by John Kennedy.
