Three lecturers at Abertay University in Dundee have received a ringing endorsement of their teaching skills from their own students.
Professor John McLeod, Dr Nia White and Dr Wallace McNeish were chosen from 129 Abertay academics who were nominated by more than 800 students almost 20% of the student body.
Professor McLeod, of the school of social and health sciences, received the creative or innovative teaching award, with the runners-up Charles Malone and Lynn Wright.
Dr White, of the school of contemporary sciences, received the best platform for employability award, and the runners-up were Dr Fiona Gabbert and Andrea Cameron.
Dr McNeish, of the school of social and health sciences, won the outstanding ability award, with the runners-up Dr Kenny McAlpine, Julia McLeod and Dennis Gentles.
The awards were presented by University of Abertay Dundee Students’ Association (UADSA) president Ian Todd in Abertay’s student centre.
Also there were Liam Burns, president of the NUS Scotland, and Professor Bernard King, the university’s principal and vice-chancellor.
A committee made up of the president and vice-president of UADSA, one undergraduate student, one postgraduate student, one international student and a senior member of university staff, drew up a shortlist of 10 nominees.
