First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is to be grilled by a Holyrood super committee on her plans for government.
Ms Sturgeon will be questioned by the conveners of every Scottish Parliament committee in a special session chaired by Presiding Officer Tricia Marwick.
It is the first time Ms Sturgeon as First Minister has appeared before the Conveners Group and the second time such an event has taken place at the Parliament.
The first saw former first minister Alex Salmond questioned by committee heads in September 2013.
The initiative was introduced with the aim of enhancing parliamentary scrutiny of the government’s legislative programme and strengthening the role of Holyrood committees.
Speaking before her appearance, Ms Sturgeon said: “My key goals – prosperity, fairness, public services and participation – are areas that parliamentarians of all parties have an interest in and I look forward to explaining how my government will take them forward over the coming year.
“While the session is designed to allow conveners to scrutinise the Scottish Government’s programme, the proceedings also offer a valuable opportunity for me to hear the views of the conveners about how things might be improved to ensure that our shared aims can be met.
“I am delighted to be attending, I am sure it will be constructive and productive, and I hope that future meetings can take place on a regular basis.”
The Conveners Group is chaired by the presiding officer or a deputy presiding officer and is a forum where committee conveners meet to take a strategic view on the operation of committees and to facilitate liaison between the committees, the parliamentary bureau and the Scottish Parliament corporate body.
