St Andrews students’ excuses will not wash thanks to LaundryView

St Andrews students no longer have an excuse for sending their laundry home.
An online system means freshers at St Andrews University will be able to speak to washing machines and dryers from their PC or phone.
Emails will even be sent from the machines telling students when a wash is finished.
LaundryView, developed by Circuit Managed Laundry Systems, means the excuse that the machines were busy every time students visited the laundry will no longer wash.
The Fife university is one of three in Scotland where the system has been installed.
The others are in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Students can check on machines online so they can be sure one will be free when they cart bags to the laundry.
If machines are busy, an email can be sent when one is available.
The system will even identify peak use times, so students know when the laundry is likely to be quiet.
Designer Malcolm Brook said, “Students love the system. Rather than traipsing all the way down from their room to find all machines in use, they can plan their visits and manage their lives.”
