Dundee’s Abertay University has presented hundreds of degrees and awards to Malaysian students at a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur.
Abertay has been delivering degree programmes in the country for more than 15 years through its partnership with SEGi University College.
The university’s pro vice-chancellor, Professor Steve Olivier, confirmed degrees and diplomas in various subjects ranging from accountancy and finance to business administration and marketing.
Professor Olivier told the graduates, “During your studies you faced many challenges. You have worked extremely hard and performed very well. Your success is ours, too.
“As one of the longest-established UK-Malaysian educational partnerships, we work together to meet the needs of Malaysian students who seek high-quality relevant programmes of study as the launch-pad to their careers.”
Abertay degrees in accountancy and finance, business administration and marketing are taught at SEGi using modules and materials identical to those in Dundee, with students having online access to the university’s library and e-learning study support.
All assessments are set and marked at Abertay, and are scrutinised by the same assessment boards and external examiners as those of its Dundee students.
The university recently signed a new memorandum of agreement with SEGi, expanding the partnership to include the delivery of dual degrees in Malaysia.
Further collaboration in nursing, environmental sciences and information technology is also planned for the future.
