Megan Cullen fought off stiff competition from a large number of other pupils to win just one of six places given to Fife youngsters. She will spend three weeks learning Mandarin and travelling around the country. Rector Neil McNeil said, “This is a great honour and I am delighted that the judges recognised the quality of Megan’s application.” The trip will be funded jointly by the Scottish and Chinese governments, although all successful pupils will also be expected to make a contribution. She will be part of a wider group of pupils from all over Scotland.
