Dundee College support staff have voted to join the national strike by public sector workers.
The GMB union represents cleaners, canteen staff, clerical and administration staff, caretakers, technicians and support workers.
They will take part in the industrial action planned for November 30 to protest over government policy on pensions.
GMB branch secretary Charlie Robertson said: ”The government’s proposals mean that we will have to work longer and receive lower pensions.
”After decades of working, no older person should have to live in poverty. They should not have to choose whether to eat or turn on the heating, which is a reality of life for many pensioners today.
”Under the government’s proposals this will only get worse.”
Lecturers at the college are members of the EIS teaching union, which had already announced it would strike.
College employees will join the demonstration being organised by Dundee Trades Council. A march will be held from Dudhope Park to a rally in City Square.
A college spokesman said: ”Dundee College will be closed to both students and members of the public on Wednesday November 30. This includes Kingsway and Gardyne campuses and the Overgate learning centre.
”The college will be open for staff who are attending work, however.”
The spokesman also confirmed that Gardyne Theatre will be open for an evening performance of Hello Dolly.
