Twins putting double helpings on the menu at Dundee College

People using the KC caf bar and restaurant at Dundee College may experience triple vision thanks to the fact three sets of identical twins are serving behind the counter.

The half-dozen hospitality students will all be serving in the caf and restaurant at the Kingsway campus in the coming weeks now the college has resumed its public lunch service.

”Obviously we have had identical twins at college before but never as many as three sets all in the same department,” said a college spokesman.

While the public enjoy the triple helpings of hospitality, the students themselves are looking forward to the academic year ahead.

Brothers Martin and Marc Buick (20), and 17-year-olds John and David Magee (all from Dundee) are on the hospitality level one course, while Caitlin and Tamsyn Cooper (18), from Longforgan, have just begun HNC hospitality.

”We came to college straight from school to study food and tourism,” said Tamsyn, who attended Menzieshill High School with her sister.

”Now, we’ve started HNC hospitality with the ultimate goal of running a hotel together,” Caitlin added.

While the girls have a shared ambition, the Magee brothers, who are former pupils of Braeview Academy, have differing hopes for the future.

”We are both keen on learning about catering and hospitality at the moment but I would eventually like to get into drama,” said David.

Meanwhile brother John has his sights set on studying English literature.

”I want to build up a portfolio of qualifications and eventually go to university,” he said.

The future looks gas-fired for the Buick twins however, as both the boys, who attended Morgan Academy, want to work in catering.

”I’m keen to pursue a career actually in a kitchen, creating great dishes,” said Marc.

It was a sentiment echoed by his brother Martin, who added: ”We are both enjoying this course and would really like to find work in a professional kitchen hopefully someday running a kitchen between us.”
