Former Abertay University EPICentre building on the market

Abertay University is selling off a prominent building in West Bell Street, Dundee, which was once home to a hi-tech research centre.
The five-storey building, formerly a Victorian bank, was extensively refurbished and opened in 2000 as the £1.2 million Electronic Photonic and Information Control Centre (EPICentre). It was set up to study the way humans interact with machines and technology.
However, a spokesman for the university explained the building is now surplus to requirements, saying, “Although there’s still a sign over the door the EPICentre actually moved out several years ago.
“We’ve been using the building as meeting rooms and office accommodation, especially in the last couple of years when groups of staff have been ‘decanted’ from the main buildings temporarily to allow building works to take place. Those works are now largely finished, so there’s no need to keep 9 West Bell Street.”
The building is on the market with Thorntons at offers over £425,000.
