Thieves have driven away with more than a quarter of a million pounds-worth of wine.
A lorry cab was driven into a haulage yard in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, at the weekend, was hooked to a trailer containing wine worth £300,000 and was driven away.
The theft at RT Keedwell haulage yard in Bellshill Road was discovered by staff at 8.20am on Sunday and could have taken place at any time after 12pm the previous day, police said.
Detective Sergeant John Cameron, of Hamilton police office, said: “I would urge anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious on Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning either at or near the haulage yard to come forward as they may have information that is vital to this inquiry.”
Police have not disclosed who owns the wine. They say they are looking for more than one person in connection with the theft.
A spokesman for RT Keedwell said it is investigating the circumstances of the theft.
