Police at Fort William were alerted to the incident on Ben Nevis at 12.25pm on Saturday. An RAF helicopter was scrambled to scene were the 51-year-old man from the Glasgow area had collapsed on the Ben Nevis path, police said. He was airlifted to Belford Hospital in Fort William but pronounced dead on arrival.
