Abertay University principal Bernard King to go to tribunal
ByNews reporter
Suspended Abertay University principal Bernard King is understood to be taking his case to an employment tribunal.
Professor King (64) is apparently claiming that he has been discriminated against on age grounds because his contract has not been extended.
He was suspended from his £222,000-a-year post last week over a number of unspecified issues only days after vice-principal Nicholas Terry was suspended over a separate matter.
A university spokesman said on Tuesday that he was unable to make any comment while the investigation into Professor King’s case was under way.
In the meantime the university remains under the leadership of acting principal Steve Olivier and the students’ association has said it does not believe the management turmoil will impact on students.
