Dundee United star Paul Paton has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault on Celtic goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska.

It follows an incident involvingthe 32-year-old ex-Dundee Unitedgoalkeeper on Ashton Lane in the west endof Glasgow in the early hours of October20.

Former Stenhousemuir goalkeeper Chris McCluskey was also arrested in connection with the incident and both men are expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on November 27.

Last week, Dundee United launchedan investigation into the behaviour ofPaton and fellow first-team player MarkWilson.

Both players were removed fromthe Dundee United squad for Saturday’s match against Inverness CaledonianThistle.

Wilson, who played with Zaluska at Celtic, released a statement last week saying he tried to “calm a matter down”.

It is unclear if Paton will remainunavailable for selection until he makes his scheduled court appearance next month.

Goalkeeper McCluskey, 26, is currently without a club.

Zaluska was believed to have suffered a head injury in the incident.

The Polish goalkeeper, who is the club’s second-choice keeper, signed for Celtic from Dundee United in 2009.

A police spokeswoman said: “Two men aged 26 and 27 have been arrested in relation to the incident. They have since been released.”

Dundee United could not be contacted for comment.
