Tributes have been paid to a Perth man who was killed in an accident on the A9.
Steven McCaig had been travelling north when his car left the carriageway three miles south of Dalwhinnie on August 31.
The 37-year-old, who worked as an overhead linesman for Balfour Beatty, suffered fatal injuries after the vehicle plunged down an embankment and across a ditch, ending up in a nearby burn.
After the crash, a group of his workmates created a memorial from his uniform and equipment at the roadside.
Mr McCaig’s father Derek, who lives in Kirriemuir, revealed his son’s colleagues had been hit hard by the loss.
He said: “What happened has totally shocked everyone.
“It has affected quite a few people and Balfour Beatty have given counselling to some of his work colleagues and have been really supportive.
“What Steven has done in his short life has been amazing.
“He had a huge number of friends outside of work as well we didn’t know just how many friends he had.”
It has also emerged he died the day before the birth of his nephew, which he had been “really looking forward to”.
A former Abertay University student, Mr McCaig later moved to Edinburgh and was a talented photographer.
He is survived by his father, his mother Anne, sister Karen, brother Andrew and partner Colin Boyle.
His funeral will take place today at Warriston Crematorium in Edinburgh.
