The SNP is still clear at the top of the polls locally almost three years after their landslide Holyrood victory but voting intentions tighten up dramatically for Westminster elections, a new poll has revealed.
When people are asked who they want elected to the Scottish Parliament, Labour trails its rivals by almost 18% for constituency votes in North East Scotland, but enjoy a 2.6% lead in Mid Scotland and Fife.
The SNP lead by 31.6% to 18.6% in North East Scotland and 30.7% to 20.9% in Mid Scotland and Fife when people think about the regional list.
However, Labour has a 10 point lead for Westminster voting intentions in Mid Scotland and Fife and is just 0.3% behind in North East Scotland.
SNP business convener Derek Mackay said: “These poll ratings are a remarkable vote of confidence in the SNP after seven years in government, with support for the SNP on the constituency vote actually increasing since our landslide victory in 2011.”
A Scottish Labour spokesperson said: “Our priority will be making the case to Scots that Labour is the only party that will help them deal with the cost of living crisis which they are facing.”
