A legal right to childcare for youngsters up to the age of 15 should be introduced by the Scottish Government, according to a Holyrood committee.
The Scottish Parliament’s Equal Opportunities committee is calling for a timetable for a statutory right to childcare that includes both disabled and children up to the age of 15 in a report on women and work.
The report says a “fundamental transformation of the childcare infrastructure must take place”.
Clear indications of good work and initiatives on problems facing women and work were acknowledged but inequality between the genders remains, according to the committee.
