Cancelled operations at Scottish hospitals have declined, official figures show.
The proportion of total operations cancelled decreased from 9.2% in May to 8.9% in June, figures from NHS Scotland’s Information Services Division show.
Operations cancelled due to capacity or non-clinical reasons, such as a lack of available beds or staff, dropped from 1.7% to 1.3%.
Cancellations for clinical reasons such as a patient being deemed too unwell for an operation dropped from 2.9% to 2.7%.
There was a rise in the proportion of operations deemed to have been cancelled by the patient, either through refusing the procedure or not turning up, from 3.6% to 3.8%.
