Police were called to Mount Pleasant Street in Greenock at about 5.25pm on Sunday following reports of a man lying injured outside a property. The 44-year-old was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital in the town, where he remains in a critical condition. Police Scotland said that a 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
