A man has died and another is seriously injured after a van and lorry were involved in a crash on the M74.
The 52-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident near Lockerbie.
He was a passenger in a Vauxhall Combo van which was involved in a collision with a Mercedes Astros articulated LGV near junction 17 northbound.
The 33-year-old driver of the van was injured and was taken by ambulance to Western General Hospital for treatment. Doctors described his condition as serious.
The driver of the lorry and his male passenger were uninjured in the accident, which happened at 4.50pm on Wednesday.
A report on the incident will be sent to the procurator fiscal, with Police Scotland appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.
