Actor Brian Cox is to swap Hollywood for Holyrood when he takes part in the Scottish Parliament’s annual Festival of Politics.
Dundee-born Cox, who campaigned for a Yes vote in last year’s independence referendum, will discuss his life and career in a special session with Presiding Officer Tricia Marwick.
The actor, who has starred in movies including Manhunter, Braveheart and The Bourne Supremacy, is currently preparing to take to the stage in a new production of Waiting for Godot in Edinburgh next month.
The 69-year-old, who is also both the rector and the patron of the University of Dundee, will be at the Scottish Parliament on August 15.
Mrs Marwick said: “Festival of Politics is about bringing together people and politics in the heart of the Scottish Parliament.
“I am very much looking forward to welcoming Brian Cox to the 2015 festival and chatting to him about his fascinating life and career on stage and screen.
“We are very pleased that he has been able to find time to join us.”
