Stargazers out late to catch Perseid meteor shower
ByStefan Morkis
Stargazers across Tayside and Fife had shooting stars in their eyes overnight as they witnessed the Perseid meteor shower.
The meteor shower occurrs annually butamateur astronomers were given their best chance of a glimpse in years because it coincided with a new moon for the first time in eight years.
However, cloud cover across much of Scotland and England obscured the shower for many.
But that didn’t stop Fifer Ben Dolphin catching the above photograph of the meteor shower last night, which he shared on Twitter on Thursday morning.
Those who were able to catch a glimpse of the meteor shower may also have seen the International Space Station as it passed overhead.
