M9 crash victim Lamara Bell was trying to free herself from the wreckage of her dead boyfriend’s car when rescuers finally arrived on the scene.
Her brother Martin Bell posted on his Facebook pageon Tuesdaythat an investigation into the accident by Police Scotland’s road traffic division has concluded and the family told Ms Bell had been conscious when discovered.
The 25-year-old mum of two lay for around 72 hours following a car accident on the M9 near Stirling and later died in hospital.
Her partner John Yuill, 28, was killed in the July 5 crash.
Although it was reported to police that day, the call wasnot followed up until three days later, despite Police Scotland issuing several missing persons appeals for the couple.
Mr Yuill was found dead at the scene but Ms Bell was taken to hospital. She was put into an induced coma but died on July 11.
Martin Bell posted: “That’s one investigation over regarding my sisters crash that’s the traffic police done theirs… She was defo 100% conscious.
“They also said she was still moving around trying to get out the car but was trapped.
“Proud of my sis for doing so well over those three days then the following days in hospital for not giving up the fight… Brave amazing girl.”
Scottish Justice Secretary Michael Matheson has ordered a review of all police call handling and the case is also the subject of an independent investigation by the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (Pirc).
