A van driver has died in a crash which forced the closure of the A9 for several hours.
The incident happened during Wednesday evening’s rush-hour on the southbound carriageway at Dunblane.
A 47-year-old man was driving his Ford Transit van when he was in collision with the back of a Volvo flatbed lorry which was queuing in traffic.
Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to the scene where the van driver was pronounced dead.
The crash happened at around 5.45pm, about 600 yards from the Keir roundabout.
Sergeant Alistair MacLean, of Police Scotland’s Forth Valley division, said: “Tragically, this incident has resulted in the van driver’s death and our inquiries are continuing to establish exactly what happened. We are asking for motorists who were on the road and witnessed the collision to come forward immediately.
“Similarly, anyone with any further information relevant to this investigation is also asked to get in touch.”
