Woman killed in road crash on Shetland

A woman has died in hospital after the car she was driving collided with a large goods vehicle.

The crash happened on the A970 at Cunningsburgh, about 10 miles south of Lerwick on Shetland, just before 3.30pm yesterday.

The woman, who has not been named, was taken by ambulance to the Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick, where she died.

Police Scotland said the road was closed overnight.
