A number of flights at Aberdeen Airport were delayed after an “operational issue” meant passengers had to vacate the airside part of the terminal and be re-screened by security.
The issue emerged at about 10am but has now been resolved, an airport spokesman confirmed.
It is understood around 300 people were in the terminal at the time, although it is not clear exactly how many people were affected by the “short delays” to flights.
The airport’s operational director Ben Dempster said: “There was an operational issue which meant we had to ask our passengers to leave the boarding area of the terminal.
“We’ve now resolved that issue and we are in the process of getting passengers back through the security and on board aircraft.
“There will be some short delays to some flights and passengers can check with the airline who will be able to give them more information.”
He did not comment on the nature of the operational issue but added: “It has been resolved and there are no further issues.
“We’re doing our utmost to make sure there are no further delays.”
A police spokesman said: “Aberdeen Airport requested Police Scotland to assist with the re-searching of passengers and we are currently in attendance.”
