Work to pave the way for the new Queensferry Crossing closed the Forth Road Bridge at the weekend but drivers can rest assured the time was not put to waste.
The first of three weekend operations to demolish the old B800 Bridge in South Queensferry started on Saturday evening and meant closing the Forth Road Bridge to all but local traffic until Monday morning.
This new timelapse video released by project chiefs shows how a major demolition operation immediately swung into action.
It shows half of the old reinforced concrete bridge being taken down, often in terrible weather.
An impressive clean-up effort then makes the road ready for Monday morning’s commuter traffic.
The demolition is due to be completed with similar closures this weekend and then the weekend of November 14/15.
