Gang of five rob elderly siblings in Edinburgh house raid
ByThe Courier Reporter
A brother and sister in their eighties have been robbed after a gang of five men burst into their Edinburgh home.
The elderly woman was taken to hospital suffering from shock after the incident in McLaren Terrace in the Haymarket area on Sunday.
The victims answered a knock at the door at about 6.45pm from a man in a balaclava.
He and four other men then burst into the property, holding the pair in a bedroom while they searched the house.
The group made off with a three-figure sum of cash.
Detective Sergeant John Graham, from Police Scotland, said: “While both victims weren’t physically harmed, this was still a terrifying ordeal for them to be subjected to, particularly given their age, and the lady had to receive hospital treatment for the effects of shock.”
