Man dies after plunge from Scott Monument in Edinburgh

A man has died after falling from a monument.
Police were called to the Scott Monument in Edinburgh’s Princes Street Gardens at around 1.35pm on Friday after reports that a man had fallen from the structure.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Ambulance service were also in attendance, however he was pronounced dead at the scene.”
There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal, she said.
A German market, big wheel and ice rink are set up next to the monument as part of the city’s Christmas celebrations.
