A fishing vessel raised the alarm after spotting the kayak floating in the Firth of Forth with no-one on board on Friday evening. The kayak was found around three miles off Port Seton at 5.45pm. Someone on the shore then spotted a person in the water off Musselburgh and called emergency services. Aberdeen Coastguard said that search and rescue helicopter 131 recovered the person from the water. Police Scotland said that they were called to Goose Green Place near the shore in Musselburgh, East Lothian, after a man’s body was found. A police spokesman said: “Inquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death.” The RNLI Kinghorn lifeboat, two fishing vessels and search and rescue helicopter 131 from RAF Boulmer were involved in the search.
