Monty Python star Terry Jones and Olympic rower Katherine Grainger are among those who will receive honorary degrees from St Andrews University next month.
Actor, writer and director Jones and London 2012 gold medallist Grainger will be joined by former Republic of Ireland president Mary McAleese at one of eight ceremonies held at Younger Hall on June 25-28.
St Andrews said it is honouring “distinguished individuals” in academia, art, music and science.
Glasgow photographer Harry Benson, famous for his portraits of The Beatles and US presidents through the years, will receive an award along with Edinburgh Festival director Jonathan Mills, neurosurgeon Ian Johnston, Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology director Christopher Brown and Massachusetts Institute of Technology chemistry professor Richard Schrock.
