Drone camera operators have captured inspiring footage of some of the north-east’s most dramatic views.
Mark Westguard and Scott Wallace hit the road to capture sights including Loch Lee, the Falls of Dochart at Killin, the Rocks of Solitude at Edzell and Dunnottar Castle in the Mearns.
An expat now living in the US, Mark said the pair are “spoiled for locations” to explore with the drone when he comes back to Scotland.
He said: “Scott and I do this purely as a hobby and we love sharing the videos with friends and family.
“I have had an interest in photography as long as I can remember, and being able to take a camera into the skies has revolutionised the way I can capture photos of scenery.
“Scott and I have known each other since 1989 when we both lived in Johnshaven.
“Since then he has moved to Montrose and I now live in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
“My family are still in Laurencekirk and Johnshaven so when I come over for a visit, I ship my photography equipment over.
“Scott and I then head out, usually at unsociable hours, to find a beautiful location to shoot.
“We’re very fortunate to have grown up in Scotland.”
The idea followed a popular video documenting the last launch of former Montrose lifeboat, the RNLB Moonbeam.

“When flying the UAV we make absolutely sure we follow the guidelines set out by the CAA for hobbyists as well as following our own pre-flight checklist and rules,” Mark added.
“As you will see from the videos we never fly over or near public or built-up areas.
“In the case of shoots such as those at Dunnottar Castle, we ask the custodians for permission before flying and we fly outside of visiting hours.”
Mark said the pair will shoot more of Scotland in the coming year but viewers will have to “wait and see” where they end up.
