Major search after call for help heard near copper mine
ByThe Courier Reporter
A major search was launched after a woman was heard calling for help around a former copper mine.
Around 20 officers, a police dog and mountain rescuers searched an area in Bridge of Allan, near Stirling.
Ochils Mountain Rescue and volunteers from Search and Rescue Dogs Association helped to comb the area near the former mine and the local golf club.
Inspector Graham Capes, who oversaw the search, said: “We received a report this morning from a regular dog walker in the area that she had heard a woman’s voice calling for help but could not identify where it was coming from.
“Police officers immediately attended and, due to the difficult terrain, we have requested specialist assistance.”
The search was stood down after 3pm.
