A helicopter crew was called to rescue an injured teenager from the top of the Wallace Monument, near Stirling.
The 17-year-old suffered a dislocated knee just a few steps from the highest level of the 220ft tower.
Medics were unable to take the man back down via the narrow staircase so a rescue Sea King helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth was scrambled to the scene just after 1pm.
The young patient was winched into the copter and brought to land near a waiting ambulance.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: “There was a patient with a dislocated knee.
“They were taken off by helicopter as it was safer than taking them down the stairs.”
