A further five people have been arrested by police investigating disorder at a Scottish Cup tie last month.
Four men were arrested before and after the fourth round match between Stranraer and Celtic on January 10 at Stair Park in Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway, for a number of football-related and public order offences.
Police Scotland then launched a probe into the use of pyrotechnic devices, smoke bombs and fire crackers within the terraces and reported outbreaks of sectarian singing and chanting.
It has now been confirmed that five more people have been arrested and are expected to appear at Stranraer Sheriff Court.
Superintendent Steven Lowther, match commander, said: “The behaviour of a minority on the day was unacceptable.
“What was supposed to be an enjoyable event for all was tarnished by a group of individuals who were intent on singing sectarian songs as well as letting off smoke bombs and pyrotechnics within the crowd.
“It is evident that those involved had no concerns for either the safety of others or how their behaviour spoiled what should otherwise have been an event where the post-match discussion should have centred on football and not their antics.
“We have worked with partners and both clubs to identify those involved and as a result five more arrests have been made.”
Celtic assistant manager John Collins said: “The message from me is we have fantastic supporters and unfortunately one or two have let the good name of the club down.
“It is not what we want, we have to try to eliminate it, eliminate the individuals.
“I will stress again, the majority are fantastic, it is just the tiny minority that we have to weed out.”
Celtic won the game 3-0.
