Man killed after being trapped by lorry at industrial site

A n elderly man has died after he was trapped by a lorry on an industrial site.
Alfie Cheyne Snr, 71, was killed in an accident at the ACE Winches site at Towie Barclay Works near Turriff in Aberdeenshire at about 5.15pm on Wednesday.
Mr Cheyne, who was from the Turriff area, was the father of ACE Winches’ chief executive, the company confirmed.
A statement said: “Everyone at ACE Winches is deeply saddened by this heartbreaking event and Alfie senior will be sorely missed.
“Our thoughts are currently with his wife Gladys, immediate family, close friends and colleagues at this very difficult time.
“ACE Winches will remain closed today as a mark of respect. We will continue to work with the relevant authorities.”
Inspector John McCluskey, of the Turriff and district community policing team, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing into this tragic incident and our thoughts are with his family, friends and workmates at this very difficult time.
“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
