A man has died following a hit-and-run in Edinburgh.
The 57-year-old was struck by a car at about 8pm on Comiston Road at Buckstone Terrace on Thursday.
The man had fallen into the road before being hit by a small, dark vehicle which failed to stop, police said.
Emergency services were contacted after the man was found by a member of the public. He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment but died a short time later.
Inspector Richard Latto, of Police Scotland, said: “This was a fatal road traffic collision where a vehicle failed to stop.
“This incident occurred on a busy road and, with this in mind, we are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area last night to come forward.
“Anyone who has information, or recognises the description of the car, is asked to contact police immediately.”
