Lorry driver charged after breaching Forth Road Bridge HGV ban
ByJonathan Watson
A lorry driver has been charged after attempting to take his vehicle across the Forth Road Bridge.
Police had to halt northbound traffic on the recently reopened crossing to allow the truck to be turned around following the incident on Tuesday morning.
Lorries have been banned from using the bridge following emergency repairs last month.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 10.40am on Tuesday an articulated HGV attempted to cross the Forth Road Bridge while restrictions were in place.
“Officers temporarily stopped traffic heading northbound to allow the HGV to be turned around safely.
“The male driver was subsequently charged with using a prohibited vehicle on a restricted road.
“The public are thanked for their patience and cooperation during this time.”
